Summer in Zug has a rhythm all of its own. As evenings over Lake Zug slowly turn golden, the Old Town comes to life and music, water and shared moments fill the city, Zug reveals a side that has been cherished for generations: welcoming, rooted in tradition and full of joie de vivre.

Three events will shape Zug’s summer of 2026 in particular: the Zug Lake Festival, Zug Magic and Jazz Night Zug. Each reflects what makes our city so special. People come together, enjoy the unique lakeside setting, discover culture and cuisine, and experience Zug as a vibrant place of history, character and style.

A Summer Celebration by the Lake

The Zug Lake Festival is one of the highlights of Zug’s events calendar. On 27 June 2026, the lakeside promenade becomes a gathering place for families, music lovers, food enthusiasts and visitors from across the region. Music, culinary delights, a children’s programme and the unmistakable atmosphere by the lake make this day a special summer experience.

It is precisely this blend of ease and familiarity that makes the Lake Festival so popular. Familiar faces meet new discoveries, all set against the backdrop of a Zug summer evening that stays in the memory.

Magical Moments on the Lakeside Promenade

Directly afterwards, Zug Magic brings the lake to life. From 27 June to 26 July 2026, the lakeside promenade becomes the setting for spectacular water shows from Tuesday to Sunday. Short performances take place between 6.00 pm and 9.00 pm, followed by the main multimedia show at 10.00 pm, featuring water, light, music, projections and a Hydroscreen. No shows take place on Mondays.

Zug Magic combines modern staging with the timeless beauty of Lake Zug. Towering water fountains, plays of light and music create an atmosphere that brings together people of all generations. For guests of City Hotel Ochsen, the experience is especially easy to reach: a walk through the Old Town leads directly to the lake.

When the Old Town Becomes a Stage

In August, Zug once again belongs to jazz. Jazz Night Zug brings music to the lanes of the Old Town on 20 and 21 August 2026. A variety of ensembles perform across several stages, showcasing the many sides of jazz, from traditional to contemporary, from surprising to familiar.

Jazz Night is more than a music festival. It is an evening of encounters, a piece of Zug’s cultural life and a wonderful example of how vibrant a historic Old Town can be. Between music, conversations and culinary breaks, a special atmosphere emerges that cannot be planned, but is instantly felt.
